Re
Use The Past is housed in an old hosiery mill.
Grantville Hosiery Mill built in 1895 as the first " big business " in
town. It employed 55 people and had a separate Mill Village for the
employees. In 1903 the operation was so successful that a new slightly
different facility, The Yarn Mill, was constructed a half mile north.
The owners had provided a way to convert cotton into useful end
products and market the products instead of shipping out raw cotton
for manufacture elsewhere.
A
tragic fire severely damaged the mill in the 1970's and the remaining
3,200 s.f. was re-used as a Mop Factory and later became a Cabinet
Shop.

Re Use
The Past is
an architectural salvage and antique store
catering to both the old and new home owner as well as
restoration professionals, craftsmen, history buffs and collectors.

We offer heart pine
flooring from 1840 and newer, heart pine doors that make great
headboards for beds.
All parts on these birdhouses (left) are
made from old wood salvaged from the burn pit. The roofs for these
houses are made of otherwise unusable ceiling or roof tin.
Mirrors, coat hangers and wall sconces created out of ceiling tin
are also available..

Authentic Victorian Stained glass
windows that were salvaged 40 years ago from old houses being torn
down in Atlanta, were restored to their original beauty and hang
proudly again. Check us out for brick, pavers,
hinges, doorknobs......if it is old, we probably have it
|
Now we are doing the
same thing by using the building as a "clearing house source" for
architectural items. Our clientele include renovators, builders and
decorators in this region. We have met with great success by
providing doors, windows, bricks, flooring, trim work as well as nice
antique furniture, regional pottery, and stained glass windows.
